Meet Felix and Oscar! No, you’re not seeing double. You’re seeing two of Rescue Ridge’s newest arrivals, the Basset twins. Felix and Oscar are about 3 years old, and have been living together and fending for each other their whole lives. We found this “odd couple” abandoned on a farm with no one to care for them but each other. These guys are both mild mannered, and get along well together. They sleep in the same space together, and we will often find them lounging on top of each other. They also like to play games with each other. Because they keep each other busy and keep each other company, these two are very easy to care for. Though they both have their own personalities, they are both naturally mild-mannered and well behaved. We are hoping to have these two adopted together, because they have a great bond, and they don’t require any more work than a single dog would. For Fun: They may act like couch potatoes most of the time, but Oscar and Felix do enjoy a nice run around the yard so they can sniff to their hearts content. They love to play fetch with a tennis ball (throw one ball for the two of them and watch them race!), play tag with each other, and play tug-of- war. When relaxing, they love to chew a rawhide and jump up on to someone’s lap or lay on their back for a good scratch. Behavior: Both of these guys are very mild mannered and greet everyone with a big lick. They are great with kids as well. They get along well with other animals, and could potentially live with cats or other dogs. Training: Oscar and Felix have been very receptive to training in the short time we’ve had them. They are housebroken and know “sit” and “stay”. They walk very nicely on the leash, and can be walked together. They are very calm in the car, and they usually try to lay down and sleep. They also pick up well on routines. For example, when we open up the door to their run, they come running in from the yard and go right inside. Even though these guys were strays, they are just naturally good dogs.
