I found Simon in Shark River Park a couple of weeks ago. Both the park rangers and the Humane Society had been looking for him for FOUR DAYS. He'd apparently just been left there. He was finally caught because he approached my dog and LOVED him (my dog is another male pit-mix who doesn't necessarily like other males). He was terrified of me to start, but after awhile of sitting on the ground and talking to him, he wound up on my lap, licking my face off.
Very long story short, he's now at the Humane Society in Tinton Falls. It's very unlikely that he'll find a home there--he's sometimes scared of people approaching his cage, and with his big, pit-type head, most people looking at him are scared and just keep moving. I try to visit him every day, and I can tell you that everyone who works there is in love with him. He knows how to sit, is extremely responsive to commands, very affectionate, and tries his very best never to poop or pee in his cage. He's just one of the sweetest, coolest guys in the world. (He's not as big as he looks in one of the pictures; I'd put him at around 65 lbs.)
What he needs is someone to take him for a good, long walk, get him healthy, and give him a home where he knows he's not going to wind-up dumped in a public park. Please take a chance on this guy. He will absolutely make it worth your while.
