About Marty

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 1016
Special Needs Marty Marty was found as a stray in February 2008. We rescued Marty today (7/17/08) from another shelter where he was scheduled to be euthanized. When we called the shelter to inquired about Marty we were told he doesn't do much - he's like a stick of furniture. Today Marty proved he is far from a stick of furniture. When we introduced Marty to Mei Ling, our female Shar Pei puppy girl, his tail started wagging and he was strutting his stuff to keep up with her around the yard. He was so happy to have contact with another dog outside of the shelter environment. Marty seems to have some arthritis but gets around just fine (especially when he's chasing a young, female dog). He seems to like other dogs and cats too. He would probably enjoy spending his senior years in the company of other pets as long as they are gentle with him. Marty is a very sweet, senior dog. He has a good appetite, enjoys doggie treats and gives gentle kisses. Marty deserves to live his golden years with someone who will give him lots of love and attention. He has a great temperament and is easy going. He doesn't seem to bark. Please won't you open your heart and home to a special senior dog? Marty is up to date on his shots. If you are interested in meeting Marty, please contact Maureen at 732-233-2342. Updated 12/11/09: Marty's foster mom could no longer care for him so he's looking for another foster or permanent home. Marty is a sweet and lovable senior Chocolate Lab. He loves everyone and dogs too, not fond of cats. Rescue Ridge will supply Marty's food and medication and pay his medical expenses if he goes into foster care. Marty has some health issues that make it difficult for him to get around. Marty does defecate in his sleep at night but his stool is solid and never seems to stick to his fur. His recent blood work was outstanding; like a puppy. This guy is full of life and love and not ready to cross over the rainbow bridge. Marty needs some special care but the effort is well worth all the love he will give you in return. Marty's video was taken over a year ago. Please note that he does not get around as well as he did in this video. He's still gets around but he's slower and it takes more effort. Please click here to see a more-recent video of Marty. For more information about Marty, please contact his foster mom Maureen at 732 233-2342. On '09-12-26, Marty was adopted.
