Hi, my name is Hillary. I am a 2 year-young American Staffordshire/Pit Bull Terrier. I am medium in size, but my heart is as big as they come. In the beginning, life seemed to be pretty normal, but then just as quickly as I blinked an eye, my owners didn't want me around anymore. Put out on the streets, I was left to fend for myself. I was found wandering around with no where to go and then dumped off at a high-kill shelter. Before I knew it, my number had been called and I was going to be euthanized. I couldn't believe my luck when, unexpectedly, someone had come to rescue me and give me a second chance at life. Now I live at the kennel, patiently waiting for my new family to find me and welcome me home with open arms. Although my rescue family takes great care of me, I am starting to feel depressed. I've watched so many of my doggie brothers and sisters find their new families…so where is mine? I remember being just a baby when my owners decided to crop my ears. I can't understand why they would do such a thing, but now my ears are completely healed and don't bother me at all. I always hear the volunteers saying that if I had big, floppy ears, I would have been adopted a long time ago. Why can't anyone see my beautiful face and loving personality? I am so affectionate, and cuddling is one of my favorite things to do. I consider myself the "mommy dog" of the rescue because I help the trainers socialize all of the new arrivals. They always count on me to help out and I am always happy to lend a paw.
You should check out my video and you will see how well I tolerate other dogs – even when they won't leave me alone. I also enjoy going for walks and I am learning some obedience commands. They say it will help me find a home if I know how to sit and give paw. The volunteers take me to the Rescue Ridge adoption events just about every weekend and whenever someone comes up to me, I always greet them with hugs and kisses. That hasn't helped me yet, but I know someone out there is looking for my unconditional love. I will keep trying and hopefully, I will find that someone soon. Could you be that someone?
