Meet Cargo!  He's a handsome, 5 year old, spunky Shih Tzu guy.  Cargo is dog and cat friendly and prefers to live in a home with older kids or no kids.  He gets a little fussy about his bones and food and so the little ones might not understand.  In addition his crate home is his "castle" and he requires peace and quiet when he occupies it.  Thus, a "no vacancy" sign outside his crate might give interlopers a clue not to enter.
